Kiefer-Sutherland-flatliners

Starring in the original ‘Flatliners‘ must have been a thrill for Kiefer Sutherland (’24: Live Another Day’,’Touch’) as he has now signed on to join the reboot as well. Sutherland played Nelson Wright in the original film and was one of the key components for the medical students to truly go over the top and try to find what happened after death. This time around he won’t be playing quite the same role.

There is no indication if Sutherland will be playing a major character or just be a glorified cameo to try and call back to the cult classic of the original film but we do know that he is set to play a “seasoned doctor” if nothing past that. It would be interesting if the film ended up being a continuation of the original and Sutherland ended up playing Nelson again who had survived the original.

I doubt he’ll be having too much screen time though as it is filming at the same time as his upcoming series ‘Designated Survivor’. Still, being a continuation could make this a more fun idea than a reboot. If not then I’d love for them to find a way for Julia Roberts, William Baldwin, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon to all come on board for cameos as well. At the very least so we can further increase our skills at Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon!

Sutherland will be joining a new group of five doctors who are made up of Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Nina Dobrev, James Norton, and Kiersey Clemons.

Are you happy to hear that Sutherland has joined ‘Flatliners’? DO you think that the movie will be a soft reboot and continue on from the first or did they just bring him on board as a completely new character? Share your thoughts below!
