We had recently heard that ‘The Lego Movie Sequel‘ had been pushed back from 2018 to 2019 and now it seems that the reason is that Raphael Bob-Waksberg (‘BoJack Horseman’,’The Exquisite Corpse Project’) has been brought on board to re-work the script.

A delay for a film can often mean an issue but when you’re bringing in another writer that could be cause for some serious concern. That being said, it could also just mean that after writing the first draft that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are too busy with their Han Solo ‘Star Wars’ stand-alone film that they really don’t have time to work on something as awesome as the next installment of the lego franchise.

Bob-Waksberg is a newer face in the writing field with really only his Netflix series ‘BoJack Horseman’ to stand on though the second season has been earning rave reviews. We’ll have to see if his talent for an ongoing small screen series can translate into the blockbuster I’m sure that Warner Brothers would like to see ‘The Lego Movie 2’ be. Especially as it will have a much more family-friendly vibe than his own work has had.

While we don’t know much about the sequel, at this time we do know that it was initially set to see how the young boy from the first movie is living out his fantasy lives four years later. There is no word if his younger sibling’s visions will also take part in this world or if even Emmet, Wildstyle, or Batman are set to return. Though, with a new ‘The Lego Batman Movie‘ movie coming out soon it would seem unlikely that they wouldn’t include him as well. One other note is that more female characters were planned to be added as well.

Is a new writer being attacked to ‘The Lego Movie 2’ a concern or is it so far out that this is nothing to worry about? Share your thoughts below!

‘The Lego Movie 2’ will be building up to something awesome on the big screen on February 8, 2019.
