Bill Skarsgård has some big clown shoes to fill when taking over the role of Pennywise in the upcoming adaptation of ‘It‘ and the first released sketch of the character does look pretty creepy. As it will be hard to top Tim Curry’s iconic performance of the scariest clown to be on film it should be no surprise that director Andres Muschetti wants to take him in a new direction and this is one that could honestly work. My only issue is that while he could be terrifying, this picture also does have him really resembling Marvel Comic’s ‘Ghost Rider’.

Yes, I know that is likely hair and not flames but take a look and let me know what you think.

As this is from five months ago there is no guarantee it is what we’ll even be seeing but when you think about Ghost Rider:

I’m sure you can see how I felt there was a resemblance. Assuming that is hair or even flames, it does have the kind of look which could stand out as a truly demonic entity. I’m sure all of my fellow fans would love to see this one work. Curry’s performance will forever resonate as what scared generations of clowns but looking back it is one of the few truly excellent parts of the film. Oh, also we have the bonus of sharing the ‘It’ logo with you and the announcement that production began just a few days ago!

Simple yet effective. There really isn’t too much that they can do with the logo for such a short word without revealing Pennywise.

What do you think of the sketch that was released for Pennywise in the ‘It’ remake?

Pennywise will be haunting theaters in Stephen King’s ‘It’ Part 1 on September 8th, 2017!
