Captain-America-1

Alright folks, we all knew that Marvel had a plan in mind when they decided to reveal that Captain America now says “Hail Hydra” and has been revealed to be part of that organization, and I suspected that through some loophole they would be able to have their cake (that this is truly Steve Rodgers and not a clone, meaning he was always Hydra) and eat it too (Captain America is still a hero and stands against things like Hydra). So how did they pull it off? Sit back, this gets complicated.

WARNING: Spoilers Ahead for Captain America: Steve Rogers #2

The-Red-Skull-Cosmic-Cube-Kobik-Captain-America-Steve-Rogers-2It all revolves around a little girl named Kobik, who happens to be the cosmic cube in human form. She is able to reshape reality/history with a snap of her fingers, and she happens to be an unwitting ally of the Red Skull at the moment, unaware of what he and Hydra are really all about. The Red Skull, following Captain America’s loss of his powers and reversion into an old man, knew that Cap and Crossbones would eventually fight again and that Captain America would be grievously injured. He set things up so that Kobik would save the hero Captain America, and use her powers to restore him to his super-powered, youthful self, only this time around, she also altered his history/reality and made him a Hydra agent so he would be on the same team as her and the Red Skull. So Marvel was right when they said Captain America was not brainwashed or a clone, and also right in saying the good Captain America who stood against Hydra still exists.

So Marvel was right when they said Captain America was not brainwashed or a clone, and also right in saying the good Captain America who stood against Hydra still exists. It’s only that his reality has been altered so he is and always has been a Hydra agent. (I know, it is confusing, and I apologies to any die-hard fans if I got something wrong).

Anyways, it seems to me that it is only a matter of time until Kobik figures out Red Skull’s true plans and realizes what she has done, and I’m assuming she will restore Captain America to the man he once was, and all will be right in the world again, but only time will tell.

What do you think of Marvel’s explanation for all the Cap/Hydra stuff? Is it still a cop-out? Or do you think it makes sense? Share your opinions in the comments section below
