JK Simmons Whiplash

Remember when Gal Gadot was cast as Wonder Woman and the internet went nuts because she was too skinny?  Well, she shut down all the haters when she stole ‘Batman V Superman’ as the Amazing Amazon.  It’s common for the male leads of superhero movies, who are usually already in pretty great shape, to bulk up and get even more muscular for these iconic roles, but there’s one ‘Justice League’ cast member who is getting totally jacked for the film and it’s not Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck or even Jason Momoa.

Watch out whippersnappers, because J.K. Simmons, at 61 years-old, is giving these matinee idols a run for their money!  Simmons is working with US Marine vet/personal trailer Aaron Williamson to pump up for his role as Commissioner Jim Gordon in the superhero team-up film.  (Simmons previously worked with Williamson while filming ‘Terminator: Genisys’.)  Gordon isn’t a character known for being particularly fit or active (he has been shown as a smoker in past comics).  Even Gary Oldman’s rather young Gordon wasn’t particularly physical in the Christopher Nolan movies.

Check out Simmons gym progress in these photos posted to Williamson’s Instagram account:

Williamson has acted himself, appearing as a young T-800 in ‘Terminator: Genisys’ and a soldier in ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’.  Among his other clients are Dwayne Johnson, Sylvester Stallone, Josh Brolin and Jamie Foxx.  Frequent client Zac Efron graces this month’s cover of ‘Men’s Fitness’ magazine, showing off his ripped physique.

As for Simmons, what does his new muscular build say about his role in ‘Justice League’?  Simmons himself stated that his role was fairly small, but will be seeing Gordon kicking some serious ass in this new film?  (Seriously, he looks like he could take on Solomon Grundy alone!)  Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Would you like to see a more active Commissioner Gordon in upcoming movies?
