Marvel Comics Star Wars Rogue One

Fans looking forward to the backstory behind the backstory of ‘Star Wars: Rogue One‘ will be sad to hear that Marvel may have cancelled the prequel comic that they had in the works.

News of this initially broke when Amazon pulled the pre-order for the release and notified those who had put in for it that it would no longer be available. The original plan which was announced at C2E2 was for a 3-issue series as well as a one-shot that would all tie into the film that is set to tell us how the plans for the Death Star were stolen and delivered to the Rebels.

We are unsure at this time if the book is on an indefinite hold or has been completely cancelled. Marvel has not yet issued a statement about the title at this time. All we had ever known from the plan was that it was set to take place before the movie. There wasn’t even word if it would explore any of the characters in the film or just be a general lead into the time period. In fact, we still haven’t even heard who was set to be a part of the creative team for the book.

With ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ due in December of this year there is still plenty of opportunity for there to be a workaround if production issues were the culprit. As the other ‘Star Wars’ comics have been performing so well in sales I highly doubt they would pull four issues unless there was a good reason.
