This is clearly conjecture, but a recently announced piece of casting may have just spoiled who actually died in the recent finale of AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead‘. Now I should point out that the timing could make it difficult for the actor to reprise their role if their part is large enough but if it is just a smaller part or will be quick to film than this may be a non-issue. Obviously as it is a huge spoiler for the show if it is accurate so I am giving you time to turn back now. Since you’re still with me you either are as annoyed at the ending as I was, don’t care about spoilers, or just are curious as to who was cast in something else. The fun part is that this is also casting news for director Bong Joon Ho’s (‘Snowpiercer‘) next film ‘Okja’ which also stars Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Paul Dano. Now we’ve learned that Steven Yeun or Glenn as many know him has been added to the cast. The film follows a young girl who becomes friends with a genetically modified pig who grows to be giant sized and turns into a monster movie. Maybe he’s just doing voice work of the pig which would actually make this pretty easy to fit in as his role has yet to be revealed.
The film is set to begin production prior to ‘The Walking Dead’ so depending how big of a part he has this could mean that he is the one not set to return this coming season. Of course, if he has a smaller part or the directors decide to further anger fans and drag out the reveal on who met Negan and Lucille then this could all be a non-issue.
Almost everyone knows by this point that Glenn is the one who dies at this point in the comic so it is a hint that we’ll be following that route when the show returns. A single movie might not have been a big deal but we also know that Yeun has signed as a cast member in the psychological action movie ‘Mayhem’ which makes his schedule either extremely full or if it was opened up from the television series then this isn’t going to be too much of a stretch for him.
Either way, I’m glad to see that Yeun is getting more work as one of my favorite actors on ‘The Walking Dead’.
