David Hasselhoff KITT

David Hasselhoff (‘Sharknado 4‘,’Baywatch’) wants to capitalize on the current trend of Hollywood reboots, reimaging, and come back films to tackle ‘Knight Rider‘ once more and has a plan on how to do it. He isn’t going crazy with plot details but what he does seem to want is to reimage the classic feature as if Michael Knight would be returning after years of being in retirement. While The Hoff doesn’t outright angle for the role, I’m imagining that this pitch is being done in the style of ‘The Goonies 2’ and ‘Beetlejuice 2’ which would have him coming back front and center if the movie happened.

So what does he think would make for a good update to the franchise?

“I see it as more of a continuation of the TV series, and they can add new characters or whatever, but they should basically keep the same feeling of the show. There are so many people out there that will absolutely freak out and love it. It would be Michael Knight kind of coming out of retirement with his son and having adventures around the world, and doing a Fast and Furious with the Knight Rider car. How cool does that sound? How cool could it be?”

The idea wouldn’t be too much of a stretch having played the character for four years in 1982 on the original run of ‘Knight Rider’, reprising the role in 1991 for the ‘Knight Rider 2000’ movie, and again in 2008 for an episode of the limited run ‘Knight Rider’ rebooted series.

A film reboot has been in talks as late as 2014 which hinted that could include Chris Pratt And Danny McBride though no movement has been heard on that front in quite some time. With the idea of a father/son team and done in the style of the ‘Fast and the Furious’ franchise it could be the perfect mix of action and nostalgia that could bring viewers into theaters.

Do you think a ‘Knight Rider’ movie bringing back David Hasselhoff could be a fun film? Who do you think would be able to play his son? Share your thoughts below!
