It seems like you can’t keep a bad guy down as Warner Brothers has just tapped their ‘Wonder Woman’ scribe, Jason Fuchs, to pen the ‘Lobo‘ movie. The film based around the character had previously been pitched and at one time Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was even attached to play him but with the cornerstones to DC’s Cinematic Universe barely being laid at that point, the entire project was scrubbed.

It seems that his work on setting up Gal Gabot and Chris Pine on their path in the ‘Wonder Woman‘ movie has the executive producers more than impressed to not only give him a second property in the DC Universe but such a randomly diverse one at that. Of course if Marvel has proven anything with ‘Guardians of the Galaxy,’ it’s that fun space romps will get moviegoers to theaters and if nothing else Lobo falls directly into that category.

While the previously pitched film had a script at the ready, rumors are surfacing that Fuchs will be taking ‘Lobo’ back to the drawing board and start from scratch. If he is set to be tied into the greater DC Cinematic Universe that is being created that might be the best plan in order to give him the option of being tied into larger events or crossovers down the line.

For those unfamiliar with Lobo, he is an interstellar bounty hunter and mercenary. As he tends to be more on the cosmic side of things it would seem that if he is to interact with any familiar faces it would be Superman, Green Lantern, a villain like Darkseid, or a yet to be introduced set of heroes such as the Legion of Super-Heroes. Of course there are any number of cosmic entities or threats he could end up having to throw down with.

When you think about it, he might be the perfect bridge to give DC a door into more space based characters, stories, and threats.

Of course, this is all speculation as he could just as easily be hunting down someone on Earth or be in a stand alone film that isn’t connected to DC’s other films though I doubt they would miss out on an opportunity for potential crossovers with him at this point.
