game-of-thrones-16

A lot of bad stuff happens on ‘Game of Thrones’ and last season seemed to take things to the Nth degree.  But it looks like the beleaguered cast of characters will be fighting back next month when the show returns.  HBO normally keeps developments on this show under tight wraps– a real challenge in this day and age– and in keeping with that, they have held off on releasing a trailer for the upcoming sixth season… until now!

There have been a few teaser images, posters, and cryptic videos released, but this is the first time fans will get a chance to glimpse their favorite (and least favorite) characters in action and hear snippets of dialogue that hint at what’s to come.

HBO has announced that the episodes of this season will not be screened for the press and this season is the first to deviate from George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song Of Ice And Fire’ novels… because there aren’t any more to adapt.  (There are still two yet to be completed, but don’t worry, Martin consulted with producers on what the new episodes should and shouldn’t include.)  So don’t expect many spoilers before each episode airs.

The new clip is fittingly moody, set to an ominous cover of Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” performed by James Vincent McMorrow and includes, at least, snippets of the major characters– including Jon Snow’s dead corpse accompanied by the voice-over “He’s gone.”  (I know, some fans will just NOT give up on his return.)

But enough already, here is the clip:

If you are behind on ‘Game of Thrones’, previous episodes are available for binging on HBO Now which offers a free one month trial.  The BluRay and DVD collections of Season Five will be available on March 15.

Season Six premieres on April 24, 2016.
