beautiful planet

Thanks to ‘The Martian,’ a new widespread interest has sparked to look towards the skies and beyond our atmosphere to a place very few people get to be part of… that is, until now. A new IMAX documentary titled ‘A Beautiful Planet’ will be sharing views that only a select group of astronauts get to see: the view of Earth from the International Space Station (ISS).

Narrated by Jennifer Lawrence (‘The Hunger Games,’ ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past,’ ‘Joy’), ‘A Beautiful Planet’ was made in cooperation with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and features stunning footage of our planet. Images used in the documentary were captured by the astronauts aboard the ISS and they are simply awe-inspiring.

While part of the film is to expand our view of the planet, another purpose is to show the effects humanity has had on it over time. ‘A Beautiful Planet’ visually presents how our world is changing by giving us a look at it from space and to provide a hopeful look into the future of humanity:

From space, Earth blazes at night with the electric intensity of human expansion — a direct visualization of our changing world. But it is within our power to protect the planet. As we continue to explore and gain knowledge of our galaxy, we also develop a deeper connection to the place we all call home.

‘A Beautiful Planet’ will screen exclusively in IMAX and IMAX 3D theaters beginning April 29.
