Arguably the most popular Doctor, the 10th Doctor, David Tennant and the most popular companion, Donna Noble, Catherine Tate, are coming back.  Not on TV, unfortunately, but thanks to Big Finish via an audio adventure.  And while ‘Doctor Who’ the TV show takes a sabbatical in 2016, at least fans have this tale to look forward to.

This will be the first of three adventures starring Tennant and Tate.  The first is entitled ‘Time Reaver‘, followed by ‘Technophobia’ and ‘Death and the Queen’.  ‘Time Reaver’ will be available come May.

In it, the pair will face off against a tentacled alien crime boss, explore the London Technology museum (it doesn’t go great) and battle an army of skeletons.  All in a day’s work, right?

You can listen to a preview of these audio stories featuring Tennant and Tate below:

Here is the description of the first installment:

Calibris. The spaceport planet where anything goes. Where anyone who doesn’t want to be found can be lost, and where everything has its price. Where betentacled gangster Gully holds sway at the smugglers’ tavern, Vagabond’s Reach.

The alien Vacintians are trying to impose some order on the chaos. Soon the Doctor and Donna discover why. An illegal weapon is loose on the streets. A weapon that destroys lives… Slowly and agonisingly.

The Time Reaver.

No offense to Matt Smith or Peter Capaldi, who have both done excellent work as the 11th and 12th Doctors, but Tennant’s 10th Doctor remains the standard by which Doctors are measured.  Do you agree?

Big Finish has done a fantastic job of fleshing out the Doctor Who-inverse by crafting unique stories that are considered canon that embellish the live action episodes.  They recently released a series of ‘Torchwood‘ stories that allowed fans to return to that show’s heyday… y’know before everyone died.

Will you be downloading ‘The Time Reaver’?  Are you excited to hear David Tennant return as the 10th Doctor?  What about Catherine Tate as Donna Noble?
