Predator

We’ve known that a new ‘Predator’ film was in the works and now we’ve not only learned that the title will be ‘The Predator‘ but we have the first image to share with you as well! Fred Dekker, one of the screenwriters of the film, mentioned last week that there was something big in the works and the first hint of details being revealed seems to be just that. As his co-writer and the film’s director Shane Black has previously stated that this wasn’t a reboot, it will be interesting to see what he keeps as canon while expanding the ‘Predator’ mythology. Will the ‘Predator,’ ‘Predator 2,’ ‘Predators,’ and the ‘AVP’ movies all be factored in or even be referenced at all? Only time will tell.

Shane had previously stated that he and Fred felt that the series didn’t need a reboot as “Why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine?” The mythology, however, could be thought of as pretty thin if you just factored in the movies. There are hints at more but it is pretty limited. That being said, if the duo are also factoring in the vast comic library they could be easily mining stories for multiple films and most likely do a much better job than any of the last few releases.

With the success of ‘Deadpool’ showing that R-rated films can have a huge opening, this might be an indication of what direction the film will be going as the announcement comes so soon after the box office spectacular of Wade Wilson.

The above image was released with the simple phrase of “Here we go again, bro.” So yes, The Predator is coming but we won’t know if it is set in the past, future, modern times, or even deal with humanity at this point.

Are you looking forward to seeing ‘The Predator’? What kind of a situation do you want to see one in during the next film? Share your thoughts below!
