Daryl-Dixon3

There are a lot of mysteries swirling for when ‘The Walking Dead’ returns on Valentine’s Day.  Can Alexandria be salvaged?  How many of its inhabitants survived… or will survive?  What will happen now that Sasha, Abraham and Daryl have officially run into the Saviors?  When will Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) appear?  And what part does Dwight (the guy that stole Daryl’s crossbow and motorcycle) play in the storyline ahead?

We do know that Negan is possibly the biggest villain in the entire run of the comic books, with the possible exception of The Governor.  In the comics, he makes his splashy entrance by killing one of the main cast members– which most agree will have to be changed for the TV show, for it to work.

Though the show and its cast and crew keeps everything pretty securely under wraps, Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) at least discussed Negan’s introduction, although he doesn’t mention any specifics.  Read his statement below:

“There’s going to be a fight. I won’t tell you who, when and where, but I can promise you a fight. All of us are about to clash with that motherfucker. There’s a lot of turmoil in the second half of Season 6.”

At first, Reedus’ refusal to say “who, when and where” seem like he’s saying nothing at all, but his reference to Negan as “that motherfucker” indicates true hatred.  Indeed, when Negan made his entrance in the comics, he had fans calling for his head immediately!  Whatever this new bad guy does, he has managed to rile Reedus up quite a bit!

Last year, a grainy, shaky video surfaced, depicting Morgan as Negan, raising his barb wire-wrapped baseball bat Lucille and bringing it smashing down.  The video was quickly yanked by AMC, but readers of the comics were assured that part of Negan’s story would remain the same on the show, although likely altered.  He may not kill the same character he did in the books, but he looks to kill someone.  Let the guessing begin!

But some have speculated, after the hubbub over Glenn‘s perceived death in the first part of Season Six, the only way to top it would be the death of an even more beloved character, with Daryl’s name coming to most folks’ minds.

Of course Reedus didn’t give any indication, but presumably, he’d be mad at a character that killed his off!

Are you ready for Negan’s entrance?  Do you think a major character will die?  If so, who?

‘The Walking Dead’ returns on February 14 on AMC.
