In the comics, there are several Flashes– Barry Allen, Jay Garrick, Wally West and more.  So why can’t that be true in real life pop culture?  Grant Gustin is slaying it as Barry Allen on the #1 rated ‘The Flash‘ which airs every week on The CW.  For a while, there was some… confusion as to whether the existing DC shows might cross over with the unfolding cinematic universe, the way that Marvel’s movies tie together with the ABC television shows ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ and ‘Agent Carter‘.  So why not take the affable Gustin and simply throw him onto the big screen?  He has a built-in fan base, after all.

But Warner Brothers, which owns DC Comics and half of The CW opted to go all new with the movies and cast a new actor to play Barry Allen in the films, Ezra Miller, best known for ‘We Need To Talk About Kevin’ and ‘The Perks Of Being A Wallflower’.

Is Gustin bitter about losing out on a shot at the big screen?

C’mon!  You watch ‘The Flash’, right?  And it appears that Gustin is every bit the sweetheart he portrays as Barry on TV.

“I fully support Ezra Miller as Barry Allen and the Flash on the feature side of DC.  I’ve never met the guy, but I think he is a fantastic and interesting actor,” Gustin stated, “I love this character and it has changed my life.”

Don’t expect this Flash to trash the new Flash.

“I don’t condone that type of behavior (especially on the Internet) and I definitely don’t partake. … Everyone chill and be nice.”

Besides, Gustin has his own gig, starring on The CW’s top show.  New episodes have just begun airing with several more before this second season wraps.

As for Miller, he offered a bit of a glimpse into his take on the famous Justice Leaguer saying:

“Well, [first] it’s going to be a movie.  I’d like for it to be an exploration of a human being, a multi-dimensional human being, to speak. … I hope to realize him as a person, and I think what’s most exciting for me in superhero mythologies is when we feel the humanity of someone who is heroic — or the heroism of someone who is a flawed, deeply human person.”

Miller may or may not appear in ‘Batman V Superman’ which arrives on March 25.  He will definitely be in ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’, the next part of the ‘Harry Potter’ series on November 18, 2016.

Which Flash do you prefer, Gustin or Miller?  Or is there any reason to chose?  Two Flashes are better than one, right?

‘The Flash’ airs on Tuesday nights at 8pm on The CW.

‘The Flash’ solo movie, directed by Seth Grahame-Smith will be released in theaters March 23, 2018.
