The latest ‘Bates Motel‘ teaser trailer for the upcoming fourth season should have fans of Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Pyscho’ squealing with joy. There is a direct reference to one the most memorable scenes in the classic that the series is based off of and should bring a smile to your face. With chances of this being the penultimate season, it wouldn’t surprise me if we start seeing more hints at the Norman that we know Freddie Highmore’s character is destined to grow into.

I absolutely have loved the slow spiral into madness that Highmore has been able to show on screen and only hope that it will be an increased focus on that in what is probably the final two seasons and not more of the clash of the drug lords that his older brother is always knee deep in.

It shouldn’t be surprising to anyone that the show will be heading towards where the movie picks up as co-creator Carlton Cuse had previously said that:

“Yes, [it will be] five seasons. Kerry and I have a pretty clear roadmap. We have a pretty clear plan of where we want to go and we want to bring this story to its inevitable conclusion. I think Bates is not its best version if it’s an open-ended series.”

With already one hint at a shot from the movie that spawned this prequel series it seems more true than ever. I wonder if it will lead off directly where ‘Psycho’ started or if they’ll actually dive partially into the movie and re-create it while wrapping things up.
