Benicio-del-Toro-Returning-as-The-Collector-in-Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-2

For those hoping to see an appearance by the Collector in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2,’ you might be disappointed. It seems that with everything else going on in the sequel including more Nebula and the introduction of Peter Quill’s father, they might not have time for everyone’s favorite immortal, slightly psychotic Collector of all things rare and valuable in the universe. The news comes to us from Del Toro himself, as while he was speaking to Superhero Hype recently to promote his new film’A Perfect Day’, Del Toro revealed that he has yet to be contacted for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and when pressed if he was involved with the new film, stated:

“I don’t think so… they would have told me, I hope. I do hope to play that character again at some point.”

Of course, at this point the Collector does not have to be in every ‘Guardians’ film, even though he did bring a lot of exposition with him that the MCU needed to explain the Infinity Stones,  but I am sure other characters can do that in the next ‘Guardians’ film. And we will have to see the Collector again at some point before ‘The Avengers: Infinity War’ anyway because he still holds one of the Infinity Stones, and I would think that Marvel would take the time to show us Thanos collecting every one of those stones, instead of just telling us that he managed to wrest it away from certain individuals, like the Collector. Maybe the Collector will be the final one to have his Stone stolen, and will play some part alongside the Avengers in stopping Thanos? You never know, The Collector is not always portrayed as a villain in the comics, and has joined forces with the heroes before.

What are your thoughts on a Collector-less ‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2?’ When do you think we will see the enigmatic character again? Share your theories for the MCU down in the comments below!
