‘The Flash’ Season 2 SPOILERS ahead!
When Ronnie Raymond heroically sacrificed his life to close the wormhole accidentally generated by Barry and the STAR Labs team when the Flash travelled back in time, there was a good chance that was the last we would be seeing of Ronnie or his version of Firestorm. The final nail in his coffin seemed to be when Martin Stein found a new partner to become Firestorm with, and the pair left ‘The Flash’ bound for greatness on ‘Legends of Tomorrow‘ (set to premiere in a few weeks). However, it seems Robbie Amell is not quite done on the CW’s Arrowverse just yet, as it has just been confirmed by Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg in a recent interview with EW that Amell will be back in ‘The Flash’ Season 2:
“We are beyond excited to have Robbie back on The Flash. You can’t keep a good Firestorm down. Only this time, he’s back with a twist, a deadly Earth-Two version of our beloved Ronnie in the form of Deathstorm.”
Such is the fun of having alternate Earths on the series, that characters that have died can be brought back in the form of their Earth-2 counterparts (i.e. what they did with Harrison Welles). And since rumor has it that the Earth-2 Ronnie is not only the villain Firestorm, but is also still involved with Earth-2 Caitlin Snow (who has fully embraced her evil alter-ego, Killer Frost), we can assume it will provide some interesting twists for our characters to see “evil” versions of people they love, especially for Caitlin who will be forced to confront the doppelganger of her former (brief) husband, and her own dark side.
