Fans who have been hoping that director Scott Derrickson (‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose’,’The Day the Earth Stood Still’) was going to give us a dark take on ‘Doctor Strange‘ is going to be even more excited when they found out who penned the film! It seems that Derrickson has tapped C. Robert Cargill (‘As They Continue to Fall’,’Sinister 2′) who he co-wrote ‘Sinister’ with. Clearly the two have already created something amazing together and if they enjoy working together and can repeat that magic twice, we’re in for something special when Benedict Cumberbatch hits the big screen as the Sorcerer Supreme!

While much of the cast and crew had been officially announced already, this is the first time we’re hearing who wrote the film and I couldn’t be happier. The last time these two collaborated, we had one of my favorite horror movies of the last decade so I’m really hoping that this will be just as much of a treat.S

With the cat out of the bag, Cargill first took to Facebook to share this message:

It’s not a secret anymore. For those of you who don’t know what I’ve been doing for the past year, I’ve been writing DOCTOR STRANGE for Marvel Studios. And I couldn’t be happier or prouder. Our cast and crew are amazing and I’m having the best time.

…SQUEEEEEE!

Followed by the following tweet:

While he doesn’t have a ton of films under his belt, I clearly enjoy Cargill’s work so far and hope he can keep giving us hits. Especially when it comes into Marvel’s first big screen jump into the mystical realm.
