You would think that Michael Dougherty would be knee deep in promoting this weekend’s release of the holiday horror film ‘Krampus‘ but instead he’s mentioned in a recent interview that ‘Trick ‘r Treat 2‘ is pushing forward full steam ahead! Fans of the original ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ are going to be thrilled at this news as it is one of the few solid pieces of information that we’ve heard on the film since it was announced a couple years back. The first movie was a sleeper hit which has caused a huge following of horror fans making this interlocked horror anthology film a must see for many on Halloween, if not year around.
While we’re all hoping that ‘Krampus’ will receive the same love for a Christmas horror story that ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ did, it is really the sequel that we’re excited to hear about. While the focus of the interview was on ‘Krampus’, Bloody-Disgusting did share what Dougherty had to say about ‘Trick ‘r Treat 2’!
“Trick ‘r Treat 2 is a really rough outline at the moment, my hope is now to turn my attention back to Sam and Halloween, so yeah, fingers crossed.”
While an incomplete script does mean we won’t be hearing a casting or filming timetable anytime soon, it does give us promise that the film is being worked on and hope that we’ll be seeing it sooner or later.
Of course that isn’t all that was brought up. When speaking about ‘Krampus’ he did mention that there are quite a few ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ Easter eggs hidden in the film as well. This will be great for fans of his previous work and might hint that the worlds of ‘Krampus’ and ‘Trick ‘r Treat’ are actually one in the same.
That could lead to some interesting crossovers between the 2 series down the line.
