Although ‘The Flash’ is only in its second season, the crossover with ‘Arrow’ has already become an annual tradition.  This year’s promises to super-size the fun.  Two years ago, ‘Arrow’ introduced viewers to awkward forensic scientist Barry Allen, who went on to star on spinoff show ‘The Flash’.  This year, the crossover will set up January’s ‘Legends of Tomorrow’ as Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée) and Hawkman (Falk Hentschel) make their debuts along with immortal tyrant Vandal Savage (Casper Crump),who will be the big baddie on ‘Legends’.

Just like in the DC Comics, Hawkman and Hawkgirl are lovers who find themselves drawn together in lifetime after lifetime as they are reincarnated through the ages.  The tragic twist here is that Hawkman/Carter Hall remembers their previous lives together, while Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders doesn’t.

This is surely a major plot point as ‘The Flash’ half of the crossover is entitled ‘Legends of Today’, while the ‘Arrow’ section is named ‘Legends of Yesterday’.  ‘Legends of Today’ is directed by Ralph Hemecker with story by Greg Berlanti & Andrew Kreisberg and teleplay by Aaron Helbing & Todd Helbing.  ‘Legends of Yesterday’ is directed by Thor Freudenthal with story by Greg Berlanti & Marc Guggenheim and teleplay by Brian Ford Sullivan & Marc Guggenheim.

Here is the description of ‘Legends of Today’:

“In its second major crossover event with “Arrow,” Vandal Savage (guest star Casper Crump) arrives in Central City and sets his sights on Kendra Saunders (guest star Ciara Renée). After Vandal attacks Kendra and Cisco, they turn to Barry for help. Realizing how dangerous Vandal is, Barry takes Kendra to Star City and asks Oliver and team to hide her until he can figure out how to stop Vandal. However, things quickly go from bad to worse when a man with wings AKA Hawkman (guest star Falk Hentschel) shows up and flies off with Kendra. Meanwhile, Harrison develops a serum to make Barry run faster and asks Jay (guest star Teddy Sears) to test it out.”

And here is the description of ‘Legends of Yesterday’:

“Oliver and Barry Allen take Kendra Saunders and Carter Hall to a remote location to keep them hidden from Vandal Savage while they figure out how to defeat him. Malcolm arranges a meeting between Vandal, Green Arrow and The Flash that doesn’t go as planned. Meanwhile, Felicity, Thea, Diggle and Laurel work with Team Flash to come up with a weapon powerful enough to destroy Vandal Savage.”

And to get you set, here is a gallery of photos from the two night event, showcasing Hawkgirl, Hawkman and the first look at Vandal Savage:

The exact plot is unclear.  Why are the Hawks in chains?  Will there be nods to the other heroes?

The two-part crossover kicks off on Tuesday (December 1) on ‘The Flash’ and concludes on the following night on ‘Arrow’.  This event caps the first halves of both shows’ seasons as they go on hiatus until next year.

Are you excited to see more DC heroes and villains joining the Flarrowverse?
