After ‘Secret Wars’, the Marvel Universe will be all new and all different. We’ve already started to see the landscape change as previews for titles such as ‘Spider-Gwen’, ‘Captain Marvel’, ‘Doctor Strange’, ‘Totally Awesome Hulk’, ‘All-New All-Different Avengers’, ‘Extraordinary X-Men’, and more have hit the web already. But now we can get a glimpse at the new New Avengers and their crazy new status quo. You might even say that it’s nuts.

In the post-‘Secret Wars’ Marvel Universe, our heroes aren’t the only things that are completely changed. A.I.M. is also all-new all-different as the Advanced Idea Mechanics is replaced by the Avengers Idea Mechanics. Purchased by Sunspot with the intentions of turning the evil organization into a force for good, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes has merged with one of their greatest foes in the name of science and justice. Plus, a whole new line-up of interesting and unexpected heroes joins team leader Bobby DaCosta and veteran Hawkeye in Al Ewing and Gerardo Sandoval’s ‘New Avengers’. Check out the first look at issue one in the gallery below, along with a variant cover by Michael Cho and the hip-hop variant cover by Ed Piskor:

Bobby DaCosta a.k.a. Sunspot, now the leader of formerly evil super-science organization A.I.M. is about to change the world. And that starts with the new Avengers Idea Mechanics! A scientific global rescue squad of tomorrow’s heroes, operating outside the jurisdiction of any government. America doesn’t want them! S.H.I.E.L.D. doesn’t know what to do with them! But Sunspot, Squirrel Girl, Hawkeye, Wiccan, Hulkling, Songbird, Pod, Power Man, & White Tiger might just be Earth’s last hope. New team! New mission! New Avengers! Welcome to Avengers Idea Mechanics.

I’m pretty sure that I’ve made this pretty well known on this site, but I’m a huge fan of Doreen Green AKA Squirrel Girl. It’ll be interesting to see her eating nuts and kicking butts outside of Ryan North and Erica Henderson’s ‘Unbeatable Squirrel Girl’, but it’s even more satisfying to see her as a proper Avenger instead of a Great Lakes Avenger or an Avenger babysitter. The same idea goes for Wiccan and Hulkling as they are promoted from the Young Avengers. And of course there’s the wildcard Songbird. Basically, there’s a lot to be excited for when ‘New Avengers’ #1 hits shelves at your local comic book shop this fall.

What do you think of the new additions to ‘New Avengers’? Are you looking forward to this new chapter in the team’s history? Let us know in the comments.
