As one of the most films most visual films this year that is meant to be seen on the big screen, I’m sure that many of you will be happy to hear that ‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘ is coming back to IMAX for a limited run! Visually stimulating, this dystopian adventure was meant to have our eyes immersed in all of its glory and it seems that the IMAX 3D theaters agree as they are bringing it back on September 11th. While limited runs aren’t unusual for previous releases it is rare that they come back only four months after the big screen release and roughly ten days after it is available on DVD and Blu-Ray.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet our own review describes it as “a post-apocalyptic ‘The Fast and the Furious’ with a twisted ‘Wizard of Oz’ journey mixed with ‘Heavy Metal,’ the good parts of ‘Sucker Punch,’ ‘Terminator,’ the old school Hanna-Barbera cartoon ‘Wacky Races,’ and ‘Waterworld’ (which is actually a compliment because I love it much more than your average moviegoer).” To be honest, that doesn’t do it justice and you should be jumping at the chance to see this how it was meant to be, on the big screen.

With no immediate word of a sequel this will be the last time you’ll be able to see Mad Max on the big screen for quite some time. We do know that Tom Hardy is under contract for three more movies so I suspect we’ll be hearing something soon which would still put the film a year or two out at the very earliest. That is, unless George Miller ends up working on a DC film such as the postponed ‘Man of Steel 2 which has been put on “permanent hold.’ If that happens a sequel to Mad Max could be delayed even longer.
