Fans spoke– well one fan, Andrew Clark, namely– and LEGO listened.  Now the world-famous building toy manufacturers are hoping to have LEGO ‘Doctor Who’ toys on store shelves by Christmas!

In July, we learned that ‘Doctor Who’ would be available as an expansion pack for the new ‘LEGO Dimensions’ video game, which mashed up various properties including ‘Back To The Future’, ‘DC Super Heroes’, ‘The Simpsons’ and many more in one dimension-hopping adventure.  The expansion features the voices of Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor, Jenna Coleman as Clara and Michelle Gomez and Missy, but players can actually play as any of the 12 Doctors.

But the odd thing is that while most of the other properties already exist as actual LEGO toy lines, “Doctor Who’ didn’t… until now!  Thanks to Andrew Clark, a Whovian who suggested via the LEGO ideas website, who suggested the brick-makers make toys based on the long-running BBC science fiction series, fans will be able to build their own TARDIS and craft their own adventures with new Who minifigures and playsets.

LEGO intends to make minifigures of the various Doctors, companions and enemies, including the Daleks, the Cybermen, and the Weeping Angels.

The photos included are mockups showing what COULD be produced.  Enjoy:

Mockups or not, K9 is in ‘LEGO Dimensions’ so the robot dog sidekick should be guaranteed.

There is no release date set for the toys, but ‘LEGO Dimensions’ will be available on September 27.  ‘Doctor Who’ series nine kicks off on BBC America on September 19.

What amazing locales from the series should be made into LEGO sets?  Which characters do you have to own as minifigures?  Would you be interested in blind packs featuring all 12 Doctors?  Comment below!
