Though it’s pretty certain that we won’t see Stephen Amell’s Green Arrow or Grant Gustin’s Flash on ‘Supergirl’ when it premieres on CBS this fall, there are a number of DC Comics characters joining former ‘Glee’ star Melissa Benoist as she dons the iconic S as the Kryptonian hero Kara Zor-El. Previously, we learned that Maxwell Lord, Reactron, Livewire, and Lucy Lane are all in line to make an appearance on the newest superhero show. However, we now have word that a few others have been thrown into the mix as well, including a member of the Justice League.

During their presentation at the Television Critics Association, the people behind ‘Supergirl’ revealed a few new additions to the freshman series that comic book fans may recognize. First, according to Cinemablend, General Sam Lane will “create a connection between Supergirl and the aforementioned Lucy Lane”. The father of Lucy (and Lois) has a long history in the comics of being distrustful towards any sort of super-powered individuals, especially Superman. It’s possible that he could slip into a sort of Quentin Lance role where Lane could be a secondary antagonist of the first season.

Next, another Kryptonian may be dropping by Kara Danvers’ neck of the woods as Non has been mentioned among those coming to ‘Supergirl’. After making appearances in ‘Superman’, ‘Superman II’, and ‘Smallville’, the lieutenant of General Zod is said to be one of the many foes our hero will encounter this season.

Finally, we have our Justice League member. As previously stated, the Emerald Archer and the Fastest Man Alive are out of the mix. And though we’ve gotten allusions to Superman, it’s a pretty safe bet that the DC Trinity is out of the question. So who will be joining Kara in her solo adventures on CBS? That would be the Red Tornado. Originally introduced as a villain, the Tornado was a result of the merger of an android created by supervillain T.O. Morrow and a sentient wind known as Ulthoon. There’s currently no word on how the character will be adapted for this story, but I imagine that it would be something similar to Paul Bettany’s Vision from ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’.

What do you think about the latest additions to ‘Supergirl’ on CBS? Are you particularly excited about any of these three DC characters? Who else would you want to see on the show from the comics? Let us know in the comments below.
