Apparently Ron Perlman doesn’t actually want to put on the horns one last time. That might seem a bit strange with his constant pushing to have ‘Hellboy 3‘ made but he isn’t doing it for the paycheck or for his love of the character — just for the fans.

Honestly that seems at odds with the hard lobbying that he has done with both Columbia and Universal passing on the film. Without making waves, it seems like there would be no chance for the film to happen except for the swelling of fan support that can be tied directly to his push. Especially when he had to apologize with how much attention his lobbying has brought to the project.

During the TCA panel for his upcoming ‘Hand of God’ series, Perlman mentioned all of the hard work that has gone into trying to get the movie made:

“I got no problems with forcing the conversation, as you can tell. We’re in the business of moving mountains. Those of us who are used to working in mainstream film and television. Don’t come to me with details and problems. Just tell me how we move the mountain.”

So what has the push been for it if he hasn’t wanted to personally finish the trilogy?

“Let me make the record clear. I don’t want to do Hellboy 3. It’s a pain in the ass to put that makeup on and take it off. But I feel we’re obligated to finish the story. That’s it. End of conversation.”

Between his new Amazon series ‘Hand of God’ and putting three or four films into production through his own studio, we know that Perlman has no shortage of work at the moment. One can only hope that with nothing else seeming to work that Perlman is attempting to use reverse psychology on the studios to finally give us the end cap to the trilogy we deserve. If not, at least he’s willing to come back for one last film.
