Ever wonder which superheroes were most popular where? Seeking like-minded fans of your favorite heroes? Where should you look? Well now there is a resource that can tell you that!
Spider-Man might be a New York City icon, but his biggest fan base is in the biggest state, Texas! Meanwhile, Iron Man, a character notorious for womanizing and boozing has the most fans in the conservative state of Utah!
And while the Marvel heroes are about to engage in a Civil War onscreen, there must be something in the water when it comes to fandom. The Fantastic Four’s top fan bases are almost entirely on the East Coast, while the top five Guardians of the Galaxy fan bases are on the West Coast.
These results are based on Google searches by state. As you can see by this infographic, Spidey’s NY home base ranks pretty low on the list, at #8. By state, Spider-Man seems to have the most fans in:

It’s not all Marvel. It may just be that size matters, but Batman and Superman are both most searched for in Texas. You’d think maybe Superman would be most sought in Kansas, home of the fictional Smallville, or Indiana, home of a real life town called Metropolis, which hosts an annual Superman Festival. But it seems the heartland isn’t really all that keen on the Man of Steel.

Californians love their heroes. Their top searches are:

On the other side of the country, New York state leads in searches for:
- The Comedian (Watchmen)
- Daredevil
- The Human Torch
- Doctor Manhattan (Watchmen)
- Rorschach (Watchmen)
Meanwhile, in the big ol’ Lone Star State, they claim all the biggest names:
- Batman
- Wonder Woman
- Spider-Man
- Superman
The most interesting finding, is that Georgia appears to be the home to the most Captain Planet fans. I didn’t realize they were so green!
