Ahoy there! Welcome to an all new edition of Toy News Tuesday! We’re the one weekly column right here on ScienceFiction.com where we seek out all of the awesome news you need to know about any announcements and cool happenings in the toy industry and put them all in one easy to find place for you! Things are still settling out from San Diego Comic Con last week, and who can blame them?! Everyone is still out hunting for all the latest exclusives that rolled over to various retailers after the convention was over, and all the major toy companies seem to be taking a moment to relax now that one of the biggest week’s of their year has passed. But there’s no rest for the wicked, so now it’s time for us to dive into the Toy News for the week of July 21st, 2015!

“It May Not Look Like Much, But She’s Got It Where It Counts”

While the above quote is an iconic bit of ‘Star Wars’ history, you can go ahead and slap that quote under “does not apply’ if you’re referring to the new Hot Toys 1:6th Scale Millennium Falcon! Last week we showed off Hot Toys recently announced 1:6th Scale  Millennium Falcon Cockpit Playset, but this week Hot Toys announced a whole new monster all together with a full sized 1:6th Scale Millennium Falcon Vehicle! Hot Toys plans to show off the massive eighteen-by-twelve foot vehicle at the upcoming Ani-Com and Games Con this week in Hong Kong. It is entirely likely, and very probable, that this vehicle will not actually be made available for sale to the public, so much as a publicity stunt for Hot Toys to show off what they can do! Or maybe they will sell these, although I can’t imagine too many people will be able to justify spending the likely absurd asking price for a toy that’s too big to even fit into their garage! Check out the full release from Hot Toys below:

On July 24 – 28, Hot Toys will once again be participating in Ani-Com and Games Hong Kong (ACGHK), the biggest pop-culture event in Hong Kong!

This year Hot Toys is partnering up with The Walt Disney Company (Hong Kong) to bring the biggest Star Wars presence in the event where a number of Star Wars collectibles by Hot Toys and life-size exhibits will be on display! Starting today we will give fans some sneak peek of what to expect at ACGHK!

Recently Hot Toys has showcased an impressive 1/6th scale Millennium Falcon cockpit at San Diego Comic-Con which has already fascinated many Star Wars fans! But we are not stopping there yet, as a complete and highly detail 1/6th scale Millennium Falcon measuring close to 18 feet (5.5 meters) long by 12 feet (3.7 meters) wide will actually be making an appearance at ACGHK! Its sheer astonishing presence will surely captured any fans’ attention!

If you want to see this spectacular exhibit in person, then you have to come to Hot Toys’ booth (E15-16) at ACGHK in Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre this week!

Good Things In Small Packages

While Baskin Robbins already found out about this guy (Basking Robbins ALWAYS finds out), Hot Toys has just announced their newest 1:6th Scale Marvel Cinematic Universe figure with the reveal of Ant-Man! This all new 1:6th Scale Ant-Man figure is SO new, that Hot Toys hasn’t even gotten licenser approval to show off the sweet Scott Lang unmasked head based on the likeness of actor Paul Rudd! Ant-Man is set to come with several character specific accessories (including a miniaturized Ant-Man figure) and a sweet display stand! Check out the full release from Hot Toys below:

“Scott, I need you to be the Ant-Man.”

The Marvel’s newest entry to the Marvel Cinematic Universe – Ant-Man begins to land in theaters worldwide today! Our new hero, Scott Lang, will don the Ant-Man suit with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength and help his mentor Dr. Hank Pym to save the world against Yellowjacket whom will use the same technology as a weapon of evil.

To celebrate the release of this new film, Hot Toys is excited to present today, the 1/6th scale Ant-Man Collectible Figure! The movie-accurate Ant-Man Collectible Figure is specially crafted based on the film featuring a newly developed helmeted head sculpt with authentic likeness of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang in the movie and LED light-up function when helmet is closed, specially tailored Ant-Man suit, an Ant-Man miniature figure, detailed accessories and a specially designed figure stand.

Hasbro Set To Revive ‘M.A.S.K.’, “Action Man’, and More!

According to ToyArk, the team at Hasbro recently announced that they are bringing a ton of previously dead toylines back to life in the next year or so! This information was discovered by a source inside the Hasbro Q2 Financial Call where it was revealed that Hasbro was breathing new life into brands like ‘M.A.S.K.’, ‘Stretch Armstrong’, ‘Micronauts’, ‘Action Man’, and ‘JEM’! This news is truly, truly outrageous! And also pretty awesome.

Diamond Select Returns To The Marvel Premier Line

While we first took a look at this guy last week, Diamond Select Toys has released an official statement regarding the return of their Marvel Comics Premier Statue line, and more specifically this all new Wolverine statue! Check out the full release from Diamond Select Toys below:

After a seven-year break, Diamond Select Toys is proud to announce that they are re-launching their Marvel Comics resin statue line. The Marvel Premier Collection, a line of high-end statues that completed its original run in 2008, will return in early 2016, and will spotlight the many stars of the Marvel Universe through regular releases. Additionally, DST’s Femme Fatales line of PVC statues will introduce an all-new series, focusing on Marvel’s many powerful female characters, with a male-focused PVC statue line to follow.

Both the Marvel Premier Collection and the Marvel Femme Fatales lines will operate under the auspices of DST’s new Art Director, Clayburn Moore. The original sculptor of the Marvel Premier Collection when it began in 2004, Moore himself will handle lead sculpting duties on the revived line, and will oversee development on the Femme Fatales series, working with some of the top sculptors in the industry.

The first Premier Collection piece will feature Wolverine, stalking through a snowy landscape in his classic brown costume; he will be followed by a statue of the classic Thor, and then Gamora, of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The Femme Fatales line will start off with modern heroines such as Captain Marvel, Spider-Gwen and the new Thor, all in a 9-inch scale. They will eventually be joined by a companion line of male Marvel characters, including the Hulk and Spider-Man.

“It feels good to be getting back to Marvel statues again,” said Diamond Select Toys President Chuck Terceira. “They were a big part of our line-up for several years, and while we’ve revisited that world occasionally with our Spider-Man movie product, I’m excited for us to be diving back into the more expansive comic universe. With so many different areas of the MU being explored in new and exciting ways on the print side, I see a lot of opportunities to do the same thing in 3D!”

The Marvel statue lines join Diamond Select Toys’ already-extensive Marvel program, including Marvel Select action figures, Marvel Minimates mini-figures, and a kitchenware line focusing on metal bottle openers, silicone trays and gelatin molds. DST products span the breadth of Marvel’s creative output, from comics to TV animation to feature films, including the “Secret Wars” crossover event, Disney XD’s Avengers Assemble, the feature film Ant-Man, as well as next year’s Captain America: Civil War.

“We’re All Mad Here”

Diamond Select has been giving the rest of the collectibles industry a run for their money this year, and they’re hammering that point home harder than ever with some of the new products they are currently showcasing from their ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ line!

First up is the new Batman Premium Collection 12″ Harley Quinn resin statue! This statue’s design is based on Harley’s appearance in the iconic ‘Mad Love’ episode of ‘The New Batman Adventures’! This statue is set to be limited to a 3000 piece run, so don’t wait too long before snatching one for yourself or your favorite Joker fan!

DST also took an opportunity to showcase some new pieces in their series of Mini Busts based on “Batman: The Animated Series’ at San Diego Comic Con last week! New busts on display include Bane, The Joker, and Scarecrow!

Just in case ‘Batman: The Animated Series’ isn’t really your kind of thing (at which point, we are seriously starting to worry about you, and think you might need to see a doctor), Diamond Select Toys also showed off some new figures in their ‘Gotham Select‘ toyline as well at SDCC! While we knew about a few of these figures, such as Penguin and Selina Kyle, others like Edward Nygma, Bullock, and Alfred were a bit of a pleasant surprise!

Minimate Turtle Power!

Diamond Select Toys is on a roll this week, and this time they’re rolling right into the sewers wiht an all new wave of ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ blindbag Minimates! This third series of TMNT blingbags introduces a few fan favorite villains into the mix with Beebop, Rocksteady, and Slash! Plus we’re getting new ‘Vision Quest’ versions of Splinter and the Turtles themselves! There will also be a rare one-per=case figure of Ivan Steranko. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled for these guys this fall!

“If It Bleeds We Can Kill It!”

But realistically, why would you want to kill Diamond Select Toys latest new series of Minimates? Especially when you find out that they’re based on the ‘Predator’ franchise! This first wave of ‘predator’ Minimate 2-packs consists of four different sets, including Dutch Vs. Unmasked Predator and Dillon Vs. Masked Predator from the first film, Harrigan Vs. City Hunter Predator from ‘Predator 2’, and a special one-per-case Mud-Covered Dutch Vs. War Cry Predator!

“They Mostly Come At Night…Mostly”

Over on their Facebook page, Diamond Select announced a new Toys R Us Exclusive specialty wave of ‘ALIENS’ Minimates! The wave is similar to the standard release wave, but includes Toys R Us Exclusive Minimates of Hudson and Vasquez! The previously released Minimates of Ripley and Hicks are also in this wave. Each human character comes packed with a Xenomorph!

This Time, DST Is Who You’re Gonna Call

Why is that you ask? It’s because they are busting out what is probably the most fan committed ‘Ghostbusters’ toyline ever made! At San Diego Comic Con last week Diamond Select Toys showcased a few new figures from their upcoming ‘Ghostbusters Select’ line that had previously not been shown! While we saw Ray, Egon and Louis a few months back, this is our first look at the all new figures of Dana, Venkman, Walter Peck, Janine, Gozer, and the Terror Dog! What makes this all even more exciting, is that while we have seen figures released of all of these characters before from other companies, this is the first time we’re seeing them all released by the same company in the same toyline! The only exception to that rule being the previously released ‘Ghostbusters’ Minimates, which are also from DST!

Funko Forecast

Get ready for the Funko Forecast! This is where we’re going to be showcasing all of the cool new announcements and reveals from Funko! With all of the awesome that consistently seems to be flowing out of those guys, it shouldn’t be hard to keep this section alive each and every week!

The Strain

The team over at PopVinyls has got their hands on a first look at Funko’s new series of POP! Vinyl figures based on Guillermo Del Toro’s vampire series ‘The Strain’! This series is a smaller one, with only four figures currently announced. This wave of POP! Vinyls consists of The Master, Vaun, Abraham Setrakian, and Dr. Ephraim Goodweather. These are due out this fall.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Arguably one of the most anticipated POP! Vinyl releases of the year, Funko’s all new wave of POP! Vinyls based on the cult classic ‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ is set to take stage this fall! This wave consists of brad, Janet, Columbia, Riff Raff, Magenta, and of course, Dr. Frank-N-Furter.
