With his charitable work and hands-on presence on social media, ‘Arrow’ star Stephen Amell is really jockeying for the Mister Congeniality award of fandom.  When ‘Constantine,’ another series based on a DC Comic book on a rival network, NBC, was facing cancellation, Amell, through no obligation, offered to guest appear on it to helpfully boost ratings.  Of course, there’s more red tape to it than Amell’s good intentions and unfortunately, the cameo didn’t happen as ‘Constantine’ was ultimately cancelled.

But lead character John Constantine, played by Matt Ryan, may not be hanging up the trenchcoat just yet.  There’s still a chance that the character may pay a visit to Starling City in the upcoming fourth season of the hit CW show.

At Comic Con, Amell announced that not only was the show’s setting, Starling City now going to be called Star City (as it is in the comics), but that his character, Oliver Queen, formerly known as The Hood, The Vigilante and The Arrow, would now go by Green Arrow (as he… well, you know).  While there, he and producer Wendy Mericle addressed a possible Constantine cameo.

Mericle positively expressed, “Yeah, we really want to do it.  It’s something we’ve been talking to DC about and it’s just a question of some political things, but also the actor’s schedule.  We’re trying to work it out, but we don’t know 100 percent if it’s going to happen… [We’re] really optimistic and we would love to have him.”

Amell simply added, “Fingers crossed.”

It’s the “political things” that may be the problem.  There’s really no money to be made for anyone, should Ryan guest star as Constantine on ‘Arrow.’  So there’s no incentive for NBC to give their blessing.  And The CW doesn’t have much to gain if the logistics become too pricy.  Keep in mind, ‘Arrow,’ unlike ‘The Flash’ is largely super power-free.  If they have to suddenly whip up tons of visual effects for a Constantine guest appearance, that may also be an obstacle.

At any rate, would you like to see Matt Ryan return as John Constantine on ‘Arrow’?  Or have you made peace with ‘Constantine’ being a thing of the past?
