Originally released as part of Entertainment Weekly’s Comic Con edition, the 8 photos from ‘Deadpool‘ have now officially been released in high resolution by 20th Century Fox, and they look pretty fantastic. I love how even in the still images, Reynolds manages to evoke the humor and tone of the character, which goes a long way toward inspiring confidence in the film’s ability to do the same. The shots of the titular character show off the detail of the costume, and I think the design and color of the suit is really spot on. Same goes for the pic of Negasonic Teenage Warhead, who I believe is wearing a costume meant to evoke the original ‘X-Men’ uniform, though I’m not sure if her or Colossus will be associated with Professor X’s team during the course of this film, though it would make sense if Colossus is mentoring her. We also get a shot of Wade Wilson and his ladyfriend (played by Morena Baccarin) before he is turned into Deadpool, which makes me wonder how much of the movie will have Reynold’s before the transformation, and whether it will be through flashbacks or if the story will be told in a more linear fashion, with all of the time spent with pre-Deadpool Wade Wilson occurring early in the first act. And of course we have a shot of TJ Miller‘s Weasel being choked by Angel Dust, showing off that she will most definitely be on the villain side of the movie.

What are your thoughts on the still images released? Is this just to tide us over until they finally release the ‘Deadpool’ trailer? Let us know your opinions below!

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
