So I spent an inordinate amount of time yesterday waiting for the anticipated trailer for ‘Ash vs Evil Dead.’ I also tried to not be sad that I couldn’t visit the other ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ trailer they’ve got set up at San Diego Comic Con, which is the actual trailer that Ash lives in. But last night, after what Twitter users described as an incredible panel about the upcoming show, they finally released the trailer online, and it was worth waiting for.

Seriously, I’m trying very hard not to fanboy out here, but that trailer was incredible. A perfect blend of evoking nostalgia and showcasing the new. It kept all the horror and gore you could possibly expect and was just as funny as you could hope. We’ve seen Pablo (played by Ray Santiago) and Kelly (played by Dana Delorenzo) already, but it’s neat to see them in action, as it were. We also get our first look of Amanda (played by Jill Marie Jones) and the mysterious Ruby (played by Lucy Lawless). We also get a peek into how everything kicks off. Ash still has the Necronomicon Ex Mortis and we know from the Sam Raimi interview that he screws up somehow. He recruits Pablo and Kelly to help him fight Deadites. Amanda, on the other hand, after her own encounter with Deadites gets saved and then recruited by Ruby. One reveal from the panel at Comic Con was that Ruby’s last name is “Knowby.” Evil Dead fans should recognize that name. So now it all makes sense that she knows about the Deadites. This still leaves a lot of questions unanswered, though.

A couple of the other big takeaways from the panel is that fan devotion to the franchise is what made this series possible, and fan devotion is what will make filming additional seasons possible. (So watch the show and demand more. They have five seasons planned, after all.) Also while a lot of ‘Evil Dead’ fans felt disappointed by the 2013 remake, Raimi and Campbell both loved it and they said they would love to do a movie that’s a teamup between Ash and Mia. (Perhaps one set in the same timeline as ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’?)

You can watch a video of the panel in its entirety below!

Perhaps the best news of all is that the show will premiere this coming October 31st. Because, seriously, how could they not start it off on Halloween? I hope you don’t have any other plans for that night.

So, what did you think about the trailer? Are you as excited as I am? Let us know in the comments below.
