Two things in life that are really easy for everyone to appreciate are well-done superhero shows and pyrotechnics. It helps that the former often includes the latter. Speaking of which, some people leaked some videos online of the filming of the upcoming Marvel series, ‘Jessica Jones,’ starring Krysten Ritter. The clips show a (simulated) explosion at a bar and Ritter’s stunt double being pulled back. It’s short, but hey, it’s an explosion.

Here’s the same explosion but at a different angle:

‘Jessica Jones’ will be one of the next Marvel series to be released on Netflix sometime later this year, and judging by the overwhelmingly positive reception of ‘Daredevil,’ ‘Jessica Jones’ is looking to be another hit. It’s especially exciting that they’re making shows about heroes that have a lot of Crossover. In addition to Daredevil and Jessica Jones, also planned are Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Eventually these series will culminate in a dedicated crossover series called ‘The Defenders.’ This makes sense, since all of them are based in New York and have history with each other in the comics. Iron Fist and Luke Cage were crime-fighting partners for a long time. Jessica Jones is one of Marvel’s newer superheroes, but in the comics she’s had some involvement with Spider-Man, Daredevil, and other heroes, but she’s especially involved with, Luke Cage whom she married. Indeed, it looks like Luke Cage (played by Mike Colter) will probably be appearing in ‘Jessica Jones’ before his own series is released. Since their stories will all collide sooner or later, I would be surprised if we didn’t at see at least some references to the ‘Daredevil’ series and the events that took place therein.

Luke Cage Jessica Jones thumbFor those who don’t know, Jessica Jones was an orphaned girl who gained superpowers and became a superheroine. But she kind of sucked at it. Eventually she gave that up and became a private detective, but due to her past she kept getting swept up in events related to other super-powered beings.

It’s not clear yet how much of the comic canon will transfer over to the series, but we do know that David Tennant will play Kilgrave (a.k.a. The Purple Man), who in the comics is a perverted villain with mind control powers and one of Jessica Jones’ worst enemies.

If you’d like to get an idea of what Krysten Ritter will look like in her role as the titular Jessica Jones, The Daily Mail has a bunch of pictures from where they’re filming in New York.

So what do you think? Did you love ‘Daredevil’ and are ready for some more gritty superheroics in New York? Let us know in the comments below.
