If the highly scientific poll of only people I know is anything to go by, few upcoming series are as highly anticipated as ‘Ash vs Evil Dead.’ Well, with San Diego Comic Con here, the fine people making the show are giving us some interesting teases leading up to the official trailer reveal on Friday. Entertainment Weekly has been lucky enough to snag some exclusive images as well as some more info that’s sure to get any ‘Evil Dead‘ fan excited.

In the is first picture we see Ash with one of his new sidekicks, Pablo (played by Ray Santiago). You gotta love this image. Pablo’s face is that of someone who is in shock at what they just saw and is still trying to process it as being real. While the ludicrous amounts of blood covering him is just hilarious. Meanwhile Ash (played by Bruce Campbell, as it should be) looks fairly nonchalant. Interestingly, only the lower half of his face is covered in blood, and it seems a safe bet that he had come prepared with goggles or something. He’s definitely been doing a lot of this kind of work in the past few decades. It’ll be interesting to see an experienced Ash who’s not just able to fight back against Deadites, but is actually prepared to deal with them. More than anything this picture reminds me of the staking scene from ‘Dracula: Dead and Loving It,’ where the experienced Van Helsing gets the completely ignorant Harker to do the dirty work and thereby avoids getting blood all over himself.

Those with keen eyes will notice that the car they’re sitting in looks familiar. That’s because it’s Sam Raimi’s original classic Delta 88. Campbell seemed rather excited about it coming back, and apparently he’s been getting some driving tips to make it even more exciting.

“The Classic is back! I’ve driven it. I did a William Shatner power-slide in that car. That’s the only spoiler I’m gonna give you: that Ash and that car, we can power-slide. I met William Shatner on the convention circuit, and I talked about ‘T.J. Hooker.’ He talked to me about how he power-slides those cars in ‘T.J. Hooker.’ So I took Shatner’s advice, and I used that advice to do a ‘T.J. Hooker’ combo-platter, with the Classic, power-slide.”

The next picture imports a bit less information about the series in general, but is still pretty awesome. It’s Campbell in full Ash getup, chainsaw-hand and boomstick included, naturally. Sure, we’ve already seen most of this in a previous picture, it wasn’t quite as dynamic as this one feels. While Campbell ain’t no spring chicken anymore and the 20+ years it’s been since Army of Darkness are definitely showing, that’s kind of the point of the series. Ash is getting up there in years, but he’s still a badass.

The official ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ Twitter account has been posting images as well. Not much really, but there’s a gif of the Classic car driving down a dark back road and one of Ash winking at someone. It’s charismatic and kinda sweet. “He’s still got it,” indeed.
