Last week we all heard about Jason Statham‘s (‘The Transporter’,’Crank’) negative view on action in Marvel’s films and now The Hulk himself, Mark Ruffalo, responds! While Statham’s comments may or may not have cost him the role of Bullseye in the second season of ‘Daredevil,’ Ruffalo is taking things in stride.

For those who missed out on what Statham originally had said about Marvel, it went along the lines of this:

“A lot of the modern sort of action movies I see, you know, Marvel comic sort of things, I just think, any guy can do it. I have no ambition. I mean, I could take my grandma and put her in a cape, and then put her in a green screen, and then have stunt doubles come in and do all the action. Anybody can do it. I mean, they’re relying on stunt doubles, and green screen, and $200 million budget, it’s all CGI-created. So to me, that is not authentic. I’m inspired by old, real star guys that can really do it.”

While he’s not entirely wrong on the action portion, I think we’d all agree that it does take an actor to sell many of the characters to be invested in them from the non-action sequences to care what happens to them.

When asked about what he thought of the comment, here’s what Ruffalo said:

“I mean, do you really need to ask that question? It’s Jason Statham. He’s like a featherweight. He’s got nothing on me! Clearly.”

Them’s fighting words! Of course, he did say it in a joking manner and is just playing off it. I think we can all agree that either as Banner or himself that without help from The Other Guy that Ruffalo would be a little out of his depth. Of course, he may just be too damn likable for Statham to actually punch! Thankfully that should never be an issue as the two don’t appear to have any actual animosity towards one another.
