Throughout his career, Chris Columbus has introduced the world to some of the most memorable characters in all of cinematic history. From writing ‘Gremlins’ and ‘The Goonies’ to directing ‘Home Alone’, ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’, and the first two chapters in the ‘Harry Potter’ series, the filmmaker has implanted himself in the childhoods of generations of movie fans. Now, Columbus is set to do it once again when he brings video game icons such as Donkey Kong and Pac-Man to the silver screen with ‘Pixels.’ However, before it hits theaters next month, we are finally introduced to the players in this unusual game of war.

When the first trailer for the upcoming alien invasion film was released, fans flocked to see the classic video game characters from ‘Galaga,’ ‘Space Invaders,’ and ‘Centipede’ and made it Sony Pictures’ most viewed trailer launch of all time. But for the movie’s second trailer, the human cast takes center stage and we learn more about the big guns that are called in to relive their glory days as video game champions and stop this very unusual attack. You can check out the latest trailer below followed by the official synopsis of the movie:

When aliens intercept video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war, they attack Earth, using the games as models. Knowing that he must employ a similar strategy, President Will Cooper (Kevin James) recruits his childhood pal, former videogame champ and home-theater installer Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), to lead a team of old school arcade players (Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad) and a military specialist (Michelle Monaghan) to save the planet.
