Even with their upcoming film ‘Mad Max: Fury Road‘ coming out next month, Warner Bros. Entertainment felt there wasn’t enough ‘Mad Max’ out there in the world. To solve that, Warner Bros, alongside Avalanche Studios, have released a gameplay trailer for their upcoming game simply titled ‘Mad Max.’

The game will be a combination of action adventure, stealth survival, and open world exploration – it’s not just about defeating your enemies, it’s also about finding enough resources within the desert to keep yourself alive, your car running, and eventually building up your strongholds until you’re the most powerful force in the wasteland.

‘Mad Max’ is set in a post-apocalyptic desert that players can explore to find supplies and resources. The very landscape is a gameplay challenge in and of itself – traversing treacherous lands while not losing gas, withstanding sporadic weather, and fighting off randomly generated raids of ‘marauders’ will all play a huge part in the game. The game’s sandbox, open world seems to be a major selling point for ‘Mad Max,’ with the game details elaborating more on the game’s side missions and its freedom of exploration than the storyline itself.

While combat is an definitely a major aspect of ‘Mad Max’, much of the gameplay is also tied to your car – it’s not just a tool that you can make look cool while getting you from point A to point B, it can also be its own a weapon against marauder hordes who ambush you in the desert for your resources, or your escape route away from them. Keeping your car upgraded and running seems to be a vital part of the game, with ‘Mad Max’s’ website outright stating: “Running out of gas is not just an inconvenience – it’s a death sentence.”
