Fans of Katee Sackhoff (‘Battlestar Galactica‘,’Riddick‘) will be happy to hear that she is returning to science fiction in a new drama titled ‘Rain.’ Not only is Sackhoff set to star in the film, but she has also written and will be an executive producer on it as well. She is set to work with Reunion Pictures on the project and if you loved her as Starbuck this might be just the thing you have been waiting for.

While it doesn’t sound like we’ll be getting space battles in this one she is returning to a familiar role here. She is set to play a soldier in a future world which is suffering from long-term effects of global warming. She lives in a world where the burning of fossil fuels as well as scientific experimentation has gone unchecked and nature itself starts to work against the evolution of the human race.

According to Tom Rowe from Reunion Pictures, “With Rain, Katee has created a future world and a story that are compelling as both a sweeping vision and a very personal exploration of a civilization in harrowing decline by its own hand. She has written a great story, and we are excited to be working with her.”

Reunion Pictures is responsible for Syfy’s time travelling ‘Continuum’ as well as their upcoming show ‘Olympus.’ With Sackhoff’s prior work on the network and the ties that the production company has to it this almost seems like a no brainer as to where the movie could end up. It isn’t clear if this is set to be a stand alone film or a movie to series concept which has worked well on Syfy in the past.

I am all for seeing more of Sackhoff on the screen, big or small.

Does this sound like a concept that you’d want to check out? Do you think it would be better suited for a single movie or an ongoing series? Share your thoughts below!
