While Lynda Carter (‘Super Troopers’,’The Dukes of Hazzard’) hasn’t been approached to make any kind of a cameo in the ‘Wonder Woman‘ movie as of yet ,she would need a specific kind of role to take the gig. While DC hasn’t had enough films outside of ‘Batman’ and ‘Superman’ to really bring prior actors back in any role, we’ve seen a clear precedent with Marvel doing this using Lou Ferrigno in fun small parts of the ‘Hulk’ films.
That isn’t exactly what Carter has in mind though. She wants either something much smaller or much much juicer. Honestly, I’d love if they went with the role that she wants as it would feel like a great nod to DC’s legacy.
So what kind of a part would she be looking to take on? Well, she answered that question by Entertainment Weekly and I really hope that the film’s casting department sees the answer:
“It’s not so much that I want a cameo. If I had a part, if there was something that was nice about it, that was a piece that meant something, whether I was the mother or an image from the past or whatever it is, then it would be a little bit different. But just to do a walk-on as a cameo for the fun of it, I probably wouldn’t do it.”
Wonder Woman’s mother Hippolyta would be an excellent role for Carter to take on. Not only is she a strong woman on her own right but it would be a great passing of the torch of roles moment. DC hasn’t historically done anything like this but there’s a first time for everything and this one sounds like the perfect chance for DC to give a shout out to the long term fans. The other option though would be “an image from the past” which could also work really well as one of those great scenes for those who are in the know.
Personally I like the casting idea.
Would you like to see Carter be a part of the big screen adaptation of ‘Wonder Woman’? Is this the kind of a fandom cameo that needs to happen or has DC been right to not re-use actors from their older iterations in the new films? Share your thoughts below!
