New word on casting for Disney Film and Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Haunted Mansion‘ has Ryan Gosling (‘Drive’,’Crazy, Stupid, Love’) in talks to join the movie! Del Toro’s long term passion project has been gathering dust for years and now it looks as if things are finally set to move forward. With the two recently having hung out at Disneyland over Oscar weekend and del Toro moderated a panel at SXSW about Gosling’s ‘Lost River,’ it sounds as if the two have been working on building a friendship and potentially brainstorming about where they’d like to go with the project.

Del Toro has been talking about ‘Haunted Mansion’ since 2010 and last July actually spoke quite in depth on how he and Disney were still working out the script. Much like the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise, this film is to be based off of a ride at the Disney park and has actually been something something the studio and director have wanted to do for quite some time.

With Disney having a huge success with other live action franchises such as ‘Cinderella‘ and ‘Maleficent,’ it should be no surprise that they’d like to make even more films based off of their beloved franchises. We already know that they have ‘The Jungle Book,’ ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass,’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast‘ in the works with ‘Mulan,’ ‘Winnie the Pooh,’ ‘Pinocchio,’ and ‘Dumbo’ having all been recently greenlit. If Disney didn’t have enough on their plate we know that del Toro is also rather busy as he is about to release ‘Crimson Peak‘ and has ‘Pacific Rim 2,’ the ‘Pacific Rim animated series,’ ‘The Strain,’ and quite a few other projects in the works.

Still if Gosling becomes attached, it might just signify that this is being bumped up on del Toro’s priority list.

Are you looking forward to see what kind of gothic masterpiece del Toro could put together with Disney’s ‘Haunted Mansion’? Would you love to see Ryan Gosling in the picture? Share your thoughts below!
