While Marvel’s Cinematic Universe is already pretty solidly set for live action films, it seems that the studio has at least one animated project in mind that could end up as a part of this universe. In a recent presentation at Emerald City Comic-Con, VP of Animation Development and Production at Marvel Television Cort Lane let a key piece of information slip. A fan asked if an animated film could happen and Lane answered, possibly not in the way the usually tight lipped studio would have preferred.

“I can’t announce anything, but things are in the works.”

While he wouldn’t guarantee that one is actually happening, he did mention that ‘Daredevil‘ and other upcoming Netflix projects were “proof of concept” for projects that could tie into the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.

With a solid line up of animated Marvel shows such as the upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘ on Disney XD they would need to have find a completely different outlet for them. Animated one shot films could be a good ticket though their recently released ones haven’t been making a huge splash.

Of course, they also don’t tie directly into Marvel’s blockbuster Cinematic Universe. Perhaps the specifically mentioned Netflix format could be a hint as to where we might see one of these pop up down the line.

All of that being said as much as I’d love to see more Marvel movies I’m not sure that I’d want to mentally tie in animated movies into the mix. We really have quite a bit to keep track of and watch in order to already have the proper Marvel experience and throwing more in might not be the way to go.

What are your thoughts on an animated series or set of films that would directly tie into the cinematic universe from the films, the upcoming Netflix series, and the two ABC series’? Do you prefer that they keep the live action just that or would you love to see these stories and worlds expanded even further? Share your thoughts below True Believers!
