After an amazing showing with ‘The Avengers’ in 2012, Joss Whedon is looking to raise the stakes once again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron.‘ One way he’s doing so is by introducing some of the most influential characters in Avengers history by bringing in Ultron, The Vision, Quicksilver, and the Scarlet Witch. But who knows how the twins Wanda and Pietro Maximoff will differ from their comic book counterparts? Earlier this week, some fun facts shed some light on these changes, but now there’s a new featurette that goes into even more details about the siblings, specifically their unique skill sets.

Marvel UK released a new video spotlighting the two newest Avengers played by Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson in the upcoming Phase Two film featuring Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. In this featurette titled ‘Super Siblings’, we get to see a good bit of new footage starring Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch plus some insight from the stars themselves:

Something that stands out from these interviews is Whedon’s description of Wanda’s powers. In the comics, Scarlet Witch’s powers are describes as “the ability to manipulate probability via hexes.” However, that sounds like an awfully complicated thing to adapt for a movie, especially in a world where magic is often described as alien science and mutants don’t exist. Of course, there are Inhumans now thanks to ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,’ but to the best of my knowledge, the twins got their powers from Loki’s scepter. Although, with all that in mind, I wonder how the MCU will handle the powers of Dr. Stephen Strange. That’ll be a much harder thing to explain in this world that has depowered Wanda Maximoff to a certain degree.

What do you think about the changes to Scarlet Witch’s powers in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’? Do you think that it was necessary to make these adjustments for Wanda to make the jump from the comics to the big screen? Share your thoughts and theories in the comments below.
