‘Blade Runner’ stands as a milestone in science fiction films.  Directed by Ridley Scott and starring Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford, the movie follows Decker whose job is to hunt down “replicants” or human-like androids.  The original movie was muddled in controversy after it was heavily edited by the studio, making it more ambiguous to viewers.  Earlier, a “director’s cut” was released on BluRay, spelling things out more clearly.

Now, UK audiences can get ready for ‘The Final Cut,’ an even more tweaked version of the film which is being released on the big screen.  Most notably, this version will include the full unicorn dream sequence which dispels some of the ambiguity.  Will modern audiences embrace this sci-fi classic?

Scott expressed, “This new trailer captures the essence of the film and I hope will inspire a new generation to see ‘Blade Runner’ when it is re-released across the UK on 3 April.”

Sadly, US fans are out of luck, as ‘The Final Cut’ is only being screened in the UK.  But… if it’s any consolation, we can at least watch the trailer, below:

Starring Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, Daryl Hannah and Sean Young and featuring an iconic Vangelis score, Ridley Scott’s classic sci-fi opus is one of modern cinema’s most influential films. A grand cinematic synthesis of sound, image and thought-provoking drama Blade Runner: The Final Cut is an unforgettable experience that demands to be seen on the big screen.

Are you a fan of ‘Blade Runner‘?  Are you glad to see the movie staying in the limelight and getting a new theatrical release?
