The Wachowskis want to kick it up a notch in their Netflix series ‘Sense8‘ and plan to do so by delivering “psychic orgies” and “live births”!  While an orgy was hinted at in the rave scenes that were shown during ‘The Matrix’ trilogy, this could be a first for Netflix and an interesting new direction for the siblings.

During a recent press conference for ‘Jupiter Ascending,’ they were asked about the series which they describe as “more about humanity. It’s about everything.”

According to Lana Wachowski, they were only interested in working with Netflix if they can do “anything”:

“We told Netflix we were like, “We’re only interested in doing this. It’s going to be so hard, it’s not very much money. We’re only interested in it if we can do anything. And I mean anything. Like crazy psychic orgies with all sorts of different bodies.” And they were like, “Yeah sure, cool great.”

Her brother Andy Wachowski added, “We have live births… Babies coming out of vaginas… Yes. Tune in. In May, you’ll see.”

So psychic orgies and live births. I’m actually not too surprised on a birth happening. They didn’t say if they mean humans or animals but if they are using actual pregnant women and not use some kind of special effects, that is really taking the idea to an entirely new level.

While ‘Jupiter Ascending’ is getting mixed reviews, the duo haven’t had a solid hit since the first ‘Matrix‘ film and I’m really wanting to see where they go with this one. Of course, part of my interest has more to do with ‘Babylon 5‘ creator J. Michael Straczynski having co-written the series.

The Wachowskis are truly committed to the series which follows 8 people who have developed a mental connection to one another. To emphasize that these individuals are from around the world, they felt that the best way to show this off was to be true to their points of origin:

“We shot the show all over the world. One of the ideas of the show was to juxtapose location and culture. Putting these 8 disparate lives up against one another so that you can feel the differences and the similarities between all of us. And in doing so, we ended up having 100,000 miles of flight time for all of last year. That’s four times around the globe.

We shot in San Francisco, Chicago, Mexico City, Reykjavík, London, Berlin, Nairobi, Seoul, Mumbai.”

With the amount of work being put into ‘Sense8,’ I just hope that the Wachowskis are able to keep their usually high visual standard of excellence and that Straczynski’s writing can bring a solid plot to the table.
