Gearbox Software recently announced that they are ready to begin development on the next ‘Borderlands’ game.

Announced by Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford during the studio’s final panel at this year’s PAX South in a report by IGN, it looks like the next big ‘Borderlands’ game will finally become a reality sometime in the near future. However, Pitchford did acknowledge that a new entry in the long running first person shooter RPG series is not in development at this time.

“We want to think about the future and we want to think about what the next Borderlands is and we’re going to need some help,” Pitchford said. “The fact is, we’re not working on a new Borderlands game, but we want to.”

Pitchford commented further by putting out a call to action to all developers in the industry about the potential development of a new ‘Borderlands’ title.

“If you are in the industry and you think you can help us, we want you to help us. We want to get started on a new Borderlands game,” Pitchford said. “There’s literally nothing to tell, but we’re ready to start.”

Shortly after the PAX South panel, Pitchford took to Twitter to recruit help for the next ‘Borderlands’ game, which you can see in the tweets below.

For those who may have not played the earlier games, Gearbox Software recently announced ‘Borderlands: The Handsome Collection’ for PS4 and Xbox One. The collection contains HD remastered versions of ‘Borderlands 2’ and ‘Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel’, and features cross-save functionality, four player split-screen and all of each game’s respective DLC. ‘Borderlands: The Handsome Collection’ is scheduled to release March 24.
