Back in 2013, MGM announced that it was developing a sequel for ‘Hot Tub Time Machine,’ the 2010 time travel comedy starring Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke, and John Cusack that didn’t fare too well at the box office but found its audience on DVD and cable. The first trailer debuted at this year’s San Diego Comic Con and confirmed that Cusack would be replaced with Adam Scott, but there hasn’t been much movement since then, which is weird since it was scheduled for a Christmas 2014 release date at the time. Well, it looks like the film has been pushed back to 2015 and it now has a new trailer and poster to reflect the change.

Just like in the first movie, ‘Hot Tub Time Machine 2‘ will see the characters played by Robinson, Corddry, and Duke use time travel to change some major events in their lives. Although, instead of going back in time, this time they travel to the future and meet the son of Cusack’s character, who they have enlisted to help them out. You can check out the ‘Back to the Future’ meets ‘Terminator’ antics in the newest trailer below followed by the official synopsis:

In the sequel, when Lou (Corddry) finds himself in trouble, Nick (Robinson) and Jacob (Duke) fire up the hot tub time machine in an attempt to get back to the past. But they inadvertently land in the future. Now they have to alter the future in order to save the past… which is really the present.

The movie studio must really know what I like because they’re giving me a goofy time travel film on my birthday. But like the first one, I’m guessing that it won’t be as warmly received by the general public as it will be by me. But what do you think? Are you excited for ‘Hot Tub Time Machine 2’? ‘Hot Tub Time Machine 2’ starring Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke, Adam Scott, and Chevy Chase makes a splash on February 20, 2015.
