On November 4th, the red carpet was rolled out and the stars came out to celebrate everyone’s favorite robotic Healthcare companion and a new animated Disney/Marvel superhero team, ‘Big Hero 6.’ Held at the El Capitan Theater, the cast and filmmakers of the movie came out for the big premiere!

It took several years and some intense research to bring Baymax and ‘Big Hero 6’ to the big screen and a lot had to do with the perseverance of directors Don Hall and Chris Williams. At the red carpet, they spoke a little of what this entailed and what the movie means to them:

One of the stand out performances from the film came from Scott Adsit (’30 Rock’) who voices Baymax, the robot you can’t help but want to hug. Here he talks a little about his character and the relationship the robot has with Hiro:

Speaking of Hiro, Ryan Potter (‘Supah Ninjas’) was also at the red carpet where he talked about how surreal it was to be part of a Disney/Marvel film and the heart of the film which is family:

And while it was exciting to see the celebrities come out for this fun film, what was great to see was the winners of the XPRIZE-Disney/Big Hero 6 Challenge! These lucky 6 kids entered the competition with a video addressing how they would make the world a better place by using STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and/or mathematics) concepts. You can see their winning entries over at the XPRIZE Challenge site.

All and all, it was a typical magical night that only Disney can provide! After all, a Disney movie based on a Marvel comic? What’s not to love about that?

‘Big Hero 6’ will be in theaters on November 7 and come back to ScienceFiction.com as we’ll be reviewing the film too!
