Why fix something that isn’t broken appears to be the motto of the upcoming ‘Cabin Fever’ remake that is going to use the exact same script as the original version of the film.

Eli Roth got his name in horror with the original ‘Cabin Fever’ and with a remake is happening, he is on board as the executive producer but this time around Travis Zariwny (‘Scavengers’) will be in the director’s chair. While Zariwny has worked on a slew of films at this point, he only has 1 released that isn’t a short so far. Though he does have two currently in production so this looks as if this will be his fourth feature length film assuming that both ‘Intruder’ and ‘Vindictive’ are not also short films.

The film is going to have a cast that includes Gage Golightly (‘Teen Wolf’), Dustin Ingram, Samuel Davis, Matthew Daddario and Nadine Crocker. It just started shooting and with the same script in place, I’m really curious how they are changing this to make it something that would be more interesting than annoying.

I’m not sure if I should be cheering the fact that they aren’t going to ruin what people liked about the original script wise or be annoyed that they aren’t going to be making any updates there and just add in new actors, special effects, and shots?

While I’m personally not feeling too thrilled on the idea quite yet, Eli Roth clearly is:

“Travis had an amazing vision for my original script, and as a scary movie fan I really wanted to see it. I almost see this like re-staging a play, and I’m excited to see what ideas Travis and the cast bring to it. They’re all fans of the original and want to make a film that’s a new classic and I believe they will.”

If the man who made the original famous eagerly wants to check out this new take on it, I suppose we can give it the benefit of the doubt, at least until the first trailer is out. I don’t know. I feel that a remake on this one isn’t necessary and if it was going to happen there should be some major change for the new vision on it to work.

What do you think of a ‘Cabin Fever’ remake? Is it too soon for this to happen and with the same script is it even worth our time to consider? Share your thoughts below!
