This week we’re outright skipping the verbal foreplay and diving straight into the real meat of the Toy News for the week of September 23rd, 2014!

“I’m Batman, and I Can 1:6th Scale”

With their all new one-sixth-scale Batman figure shipping out to collectors any day now, Sideshow has posted a new gallery of images showcasing the upcoming figure! This figure is the first of Sideshow Collectibles all new DC Comics 1:6th Scale Collection, and hopefully not the last!

One particularly distinct thing about this figure is it’s ability to blend the various looks Batman has had in the comics over the years into one truly enjoyable collectible.  The figure sports the classic blue and grey look, but offers alternate cowls so you can choose for yourself whether you prefer the short-eared or long-eared Batman amongst your collection. He also includes two different faces so that you can customize your favorite look for the figure to capture the essence of ‘your’ intended version of the Dark knight. Not to cheap out, Sideshow is also throwing in a bunch of great Batman styled accessories like his utility belt, grappling hook gun, and even an alternate fist sporting his famed ‘kryptonite ring’ that he can utilize to take on Superman himself!

BREACH! New Jaeger and Kaiju Inbound

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the toy aisle, the crew at NECA have announced even more figures based on the mega-blockbuster sci-fi film ‘Pacific Rim‘! Fans of this super-popular line from NECA can expect to see two all new Jaeger Figures and another massive Kaiju!

First up in the 7″ scale, fans can look forward to the all new ‘Gyps Danger 2.0’, featuring over 20 points of articulation! This new version of the film’s lead Jaeger is set to blow the original figure out of the water! We can also look forward to a new figure of the Tacit Ronin Jaeger. Both of these figures have sculpts based directly on the original ILM digital files that were used to make the film a reality, so they should capture every tiny detail seen in the hit movie!

On top of these new Jaeger’s, we’ve got another huge Kaiju coming our way in the form of Axehead! This character is based on a concept model for ‘Trespassed’, who was the very first Kaiju to have escaped the breach and wreak havoc on humanity. Axehead is fully articulated and features a brand new headsculpt and paint apps.

Get Your Stinking Paws All Over These Damn Dirty Apes

Never satisfied to settle for one hit series of figures on the market at a time, the crew at NECA has announced new waves of both their Classic and Modern ‘Planet of the Apes’ lines! You’re sure to ‘go ape’ over these new figures! (The staff here at ScienceFiction.com apologize profusely for that terrible pun).

From the all new wave two of NECA’s Classic ‘Planet of the Apes’ line, we’ve got fan favorites coming our way with General Ursus, Dr. Zira, and an all new version of Dr. Zaius! This new version of Dr. Zaius is based on his appearance in the classic ‘Apes’ sequel, ‘Beneath the Planet of the Apes’. These 7″ scale figures are fully articulated and heavily detailed to perfectly capture the on screen appearance of these iconic characters.

In the second wave of figures from the modern series ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes‘, we’ve got new versions of fan favorite chimpanzees Caesar and Koba, as well as the gigantic gorilla Luca! Caesar and Kob both sport new head sculpts and accessories, while Luca is set to include an alternate head that is interchangeable!

There’s a Snake in Some Boots!

While this may be the ‘Year of the Horse’ on the Chinese Zodiac, for collectors it’s really the Year of the Snake! It has been a few years since fans of John Carpenter’s classic ‘Escape from New York‘ had seen any indication of a new Snake Plisskin figure hitting the market, and this year we’ve already got two version of the fan favorite character from Funko, and NECA is set to give us a third! NECA recently revealed plans for their all new 8″ ‘retro’ figure of Kurt Russel’s iconic character Snake Plisskin. This figure is set to sport actual cloth clothing much like classic Mego figures of the 1970’s.
