Hot Toys Making Peace with Iron Man

Ever since Hot Toys started in on their super ambitious Iron Man ’Hall of Armor’ series, there have been no shortages of cool new suit designs to base figures on! The latest figure coming up in the series is based on Armor variation Mark XXXVI, better known as the ’Peace Keeper’ armor, as seen in last years ’Iron Man 3.’ Following tradition as with most of the ’Hall of Armor’ figures, this 1:6th scale Peacemaker armor is set to include  a figure display base, several sets of alternate hands, and LED light-up functionality! He should have no problem fitting right in amongst his brothers-in-arm(or)s! The full release from Hot Toys is below:

The Mark XXXVI armor is designed by Tony Stark in Iron Man 3 to be a Riot Control Suit. The brightly-colored suit is also nicknamed as the “Peacemaker” because it is built to control riots and keeping peace.

Today Hot Toys is delighted to continue expanding the “House Party Protocol” and introduce the 1/6th scale Peacemaker (Mark XXXVI) Collectible Figure as a 2014 Summer Exclusive item featuring special metallic orange, dark grey and silver painting with distress effect on armor, LED light-up functions, and figure base.

Iron Man fans don’t miss out on adding this collectible figure to your “House Party Protocol”!

The Beginning of the End for Club Eternia

Things were a little rocky there towards the end, but it appears that Masters of the Universe Classics fans can breathe easy as the ‘Club Eternia’ subscription service has officially reached its minimum goals to move forward and into production for this coming year! After the shocking end of Mattey Collector’s DC Universe Classics online subscription service, ‘Club Infinite Earths’ last year, fans of Mattel’s ‘Masters of the Universe Classics’ toyline were near panic this last week when the subscription failed to meet its goals for what had -been predetermined its final year of existence!

This would have sadly been the end of one of the most popular toylines in recent memory that has had such an extensive catalog of characters and an extremely passionate fan base. Luckily, though the subscriptions had closed, Mattel gave fans one additional weekend to buy into the service and reach the goal that they were just 10% short of in order to meet the minimum production quantities! The toyline is now set to continue for the next year as usual, wrapping up the series as a whole and bringing the ‘Masters of the Universe Classics’ line to a final close. The full release from Mattel is below:

Yes, you do have the power! The fans have spoken, and it’s official… we’ve reached our subscription goal for the final Club Eternia®! That means we’ll be seeing Lizard Man, Ninja Warrior, Huntara™, club-exclusive Oo-Larr®, and the rest of the lineup for 2015.

King GrayskullIt’s been an amazing journey for the Masters of the Universe® Classics line, starting in 2008 with King Grayskull™ at San Diego Comic-Con, followed by He-Man®, Beast Man®, Skeletor®, and all the others leading up to this final year. We can’t wait to get started on 2015, when we’ll wrap up the vintage and A-list characters and the “Fall of Eternia” mini comic storyline. We thank each and every one of you who subscribed and made it possible.

Funko Getting Ready For Some Big Heroes

A few years back when Disney bought Marvel, it was considered a pretty big deal! A lot of people were excited to see where things would go and what kind of cool new projects we would see come out of this new merger, and now after several years of waiting, we are finally getting our very first Disney animated full feature film based on a Marvel Comics property, ‘Big Hero 6’! Loosely based off of a limited series Marvel did a few years back, ‘Big Hero 6’ features a team of teen heroes trying to do what is right in the face of danger!

In order to properly convey how excited people are about this new super-powered Disney animated feature, the crew over at Funko has released some previews of their upcoming wave of POP! Vinyl figures based on the movie! This series includes Hiro Hamada, Go Go Tomago, Wasabi No-Ginger, Honey Lemon, and…. Fred(?). Also included in this wave is the super-sized 6” POP! Vinyl of the films inflatable robot hero Baymax! There will be both an armored and unarmored 6” POP! Vinyl figure based on Baymax, so relax, you’re getting both versions of the character! The full release from Funko is below:

Get ready for the upcoming movie release with this super colorful and super cute Pop! line!

From Walt Disney Animation Studios, the team behind “Frozen” and “Wreck-It Ralph,” comes “Big Hero 6,” an action-packed comedy-adventure about the special bond that develops between Baymax (voice of Scott Adsit), a plus-sized inflatable robot, and prodigy Hiro Hamada (voice of Ryan Potter). When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago (voice of Jamie Chung), neatnik Wasabi (voice of Damon Wayans Jr.), chemistry whiz Honey Lemon (voice of Genesis Rodriguez) and fanboy Fred (voice of T.J. Miller). Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called “Big Hero 6.” Inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, and featuring breathtaking action with all the heart and humor audiences expect from Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Big Hero 6” is directed by Don Hall (“Winnie the Pooh”) and Chris Williams (“Bolt”), and produced by Roy Conli (“Tangled”). The film hits theaters in 3D on Nov. 7, 2014.

DC Multiverse Sneak Peak

Hoping for a sneak peak at Rocksteady’s upcoming video game sequel ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’? Well you’ve come to the right place, because last week a few new figures from Mattel’s DC Multiverse 3.75” toyline leaked via Amazon.com listings that give us a first look at several new character designs! We’re getting updated costumes for both Batman and Robin (who appears to still be Tim Drake!), a new look for Scarecrow, a brand new Two Face figure and our very first look at the ‘Arkham-verse’ version of Jason Todd as the Red Hood!

This marks the first time we’re seeing this characters costume design, so while the others all sport somewhat updated looks, this is the first look we’re getting at the overall look of this character in this game series. It’s worth noting that this version sports a much different look than his comic book counterpart; wearing a white and grey jacket rather than brown or black, and sporting an actual red-hood on over his helmet. Speaking of his helmet, that seems to have taken on an all new look as well, ditching the eyes and adding on some kind of breathing apparatus? One other kind of neat change is that the red ‘bat’ symbol her normally sports on his chest has been changed to a bird, hinting at his origins as a former Robin. (via AFI)

And with that, we bring this week’s Toy News Tuesday to a close! What do you think about the new items announced this week? Do you plan on picking up anything we mentioned in this week’s column? Are there any lines or brands you’d like to see more coverage of? Let us know in the comments section below! Until next week, happy toy hunting!
