Check Out Concept Art From An Alien Race Cut From ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’

As we all eagerly speculate who Peter Quill’s father is in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ (and as I await a video of Groot pouring a bucket of ice water on his head), take a moment to check out some concept art of an alien species that didn’t make it to the movie.

‘Guardians’ was initially going to include the Badoon, a gender-segregated reptilian species from the planets Moord and Lotiara. However, because the actual film rights to the Badoon belong to 20th Century Fox (who own ‘The Fantastic Four’ and ‘X-Men’), they couldn’t appear in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. They ended up getting replaced by the Sakaarans from ‘Planet Hulk’. (Side note: did you spot James Gunn’s cameo as a Sakaaran in the movie?)

The Badoon concept art was designed by Goran Bukvic, who also did concept art for ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ and ‘Halo 4’. Check it out:
